Training Programme on Women Leadership for Impact in Agriculture Development

Two Training Programmes on 'Women Leadership for Impact in Agriculture Development' were organized under the ICAR-CIWA-IRRI Collaborative Project ‘Increased productivity of Rice based Cropping Systems and farmers income in Odisha” at ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar during 29th May - 2nd June 2017 and 5th-7th June 2017, respectively.

Nineteen women participants from different organizations (Govt./Pvt./NGOs) across the Odisha state were participated in the first training programme (29th May - 2nd June 2017). During the training Programme, participants were trained on utilizing collective wisdom for project proposal Development, Sharing and creating a community partners and how to finding funding for project. All the participants presented project proposals under Inclusive Development through Knowledge, Innovative extension methods, networks and Capacity Building in Odisha before a panel of Scientists (ICAR-CIWA and IRRI) for consideration under the Collaborative Project. During the Second Training Programme (5th-7th June 2017), the participants were trained for further refining of their proposals. The project proposals were further evaluated by the team of Scientists from both the Organization under the Chairmanship of Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director, ICAR-CIWA.

The programme was coordinated by the project team Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Dr. Charles Jeeva from ICAR-CIWA and Dr. Myriam Morgenstein, Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin and Poornima Shankar from International Rice Research Institute.
