Training programme organized on "Record Keeping at Custom Hiring Centres by Women Leaders"

A training programme on 'Record Keeping at Custom Hiring Centres by Women Leaders' was organized under the project entitled 'Integrating Gender Dimensions for Improvement of Livelihood through Empowerment' by ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 19th August, 2022. About 100 participants including scientists and staff of ICAR-CIWA, farm women/farmers (Kanas and Nimapara, Puri) and personnel from NGOs participated in the training programme. Dr Sabita Mishra, Coordinator of the training programme welcomed the participants and briefed about the importance of Custom Hiring Centres in livelihood enhancement of farm women.Dr Anil Kumar, Director of the Institute stressed upon sustainability of livelihood of farm families with entrepreneurship development through Custom Hiring Centres and market linkage. He highlighted about green fodder cultivation, mushroom cultivation, backyard poultry rearing, dairy farming, homestead nutrition garden, etc. as women friendly technologies. Dr (Mrs) Padmini Swain, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She focused on nutritional values of various rice varieties in addressing food deficiency of women. She also encouraged the participants to establish strong linkage with local ICAR institutes to get maximum technological benefits. Hands on training on maintaining various types of records at the Custom Hiring Centres was done for the benefit of the participants. A field visit to ICAR-CIWA farm was also arranged for them. Technical assistance was provided by Dr Neetish Kumar, Dr D. N. Sarangi, Shri B. C. Behera and Er Subrat Das and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Ananta Sarkar.
