Skill based Capacity Building Programme organised at Sarat, Balipatna on Women Entrepreneurship through Goat farming

A skill based capacity building programme on Women entrepreneurship through Goat farming under the project "Development of women entrepreneurship in Livestock and fisheries sector for promoting gender equity and strengthening livelihood" was organised at Sarat, Balipatna on 29th November 2022 under SCSP programme. Dr Biswanath Sahoo, Pr. Scientist, ICAR-CIWA welcomed the participants and described the importance of goat farming in entrepreneurship mode for economic empowerment of farm women. He emphasized upon selection of goat breed, improved method of breeding, feeding and management of animals. The programme was coordinated by Mrs Kumudini Swain, Chairperson and Mr Tushar Kant Pradhan, Director of Farmers Producer Organisation, Maheera. Dr Sahoo urged the farm women to work unitedly in the FPOs to avail the benefits of various govt. schemes and subsidies in animal husbandry.

Dr. Pritam Pritiman Panda, Addl. Veterinary doctor, Balipatna, Khorda detailed about various diseases of goats, prevention and remedial measures through timely vaccination. Forty farmers participated in the programme in which the farm women were made aware about scientific goat farming, health and wellbeing. Various inputs and women friendly agricultural tools and implements were demonstrated and distributed under SCSP programme to 30 farm women beneficiaries. At the end, vote of thanks was offered by Mrs Tapaswini Sahoo, Sr. Technical Asstt., ICAR-CIWA.
