SCIENTISTS-FARMERS INTERFACE

A Scientists-Farmers Interface was organized under the project entitled “Identification of gender issues in IPM and suitable intervention with women perspective on 13th November, 2015 in Harekrushnapur village in collaboration with KVK, Dhenkanal. More than sixty two farmers/farmwomen had participated in the programme. Dr. Debasis Panda, the Project Coordinator of KVK, Dhenkanal welcomed the participants and introduced the scientific and technical team members. Dr. Sabita Mishra, Principal Scientist (Extension) explained the mandate and importance of ICAR-CIWA before the farmers/farm women. Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Principal Scientist (Entomology) & Director-Acting highlighted the importance of IPM in today’s insect/pest management scenario of the country. During the Interface, the farmers/farmwomen queried about various agricultural problems related to insect/pests and satisfactory answers were given by the scientists. At the end, the vegetable seeds were distributed among the participants followed by field visit where various insect-pest/diseases were identified and possible measures were recommended. Shri B. C. Behera, Smt. Tapaswini Sahoo and Shri A. C. Hemrom were present in the team.
