Participation in the National Convention on Women Empowerment : Challenges and Constraints (5-6 August, 2017)

A two days National Convention on “Women Empowerment : Challenges and Constraints” along with Foundation Day of BAU, Sabour, Bihar was organized on 5-6 August, 2017 at Sabour. In this Auspicious Day, Dr. Prem Kumar, Hon'ble Minister, Agriculture and Mrs. Kumari Manju Verma, Hon'ble Minister, Social Welfare, Bihar Government graced the occasion. The esteemed Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ajoy Kumar Singh chaired the programme. Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director, ICAR-CIWA attended as the Guest of Honour and chaired the Technical Session-I with the theme on 'Women in Agriculture Roles and Responsibility'. At the outset, she delivered a talk on "Gender Concerns in Agriculture" in which she emphasized on gender friendly models, modules, gender equity, women friendly drudgery reducing tools, etc. She also pointed out how to work with both the men and women in society for women empowerment and gender mainstreaming. The other technical sessions were carried out covering different themes like: women entrepreneurship, health, nutrition and education and women empowerment in reachable unreached societies. Dr. Sabita Mishra, Principal Scientist (AE) and Dr. Jyoti Nayak, Principal Scientist (FRM) of ICAR-CIWA had attended the convention and shared their oral presentation. The valedictory session ended with the concluding remarks by Dr. A.K. Singh, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, BAU, Sabour.
