ICAR-CIWA Participated in ‘Agri-Horti Fair’ at Bargarh, Odisha

The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA) participated in the ‘Agri-Horti Fair’ at Bargarh, Odisha during 20-22 February, 2016. The Fair was organized as part of the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi Ji, to address the Farmers Congress at Bargarh on 21st February, 2016. The dignitaries visited the ICAR-CIWA stall includes Shri. Radha Mohan Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri. Jual Oram, Hon’ble Union Minster for Tribal Affairs and Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas.

The ICAR-CIWA exhibition pavilion was put up with the display of posters, specimens, models and literature on gender-friendly technologies. More than 5000 farmers from different parts of Odisha visited the CIWA stall, and were briefed about the research and extension activities of the Institute, its role in women empowerment and its technologies for drudgery reduction in farm and home activities, nutrition and livelihood security. Dr. A.K. Panda, Pr. Scientist, ICAR-CIWA also participated in the Scientists-Farmers Interface as an Expert on 20th February, 2016. The ICAR-CIWA team of Scientific and Technical Staff, Dr. A.K. Panda, Dr. J. Charles Jeeva, Shri. B. C. Behera and Shri. Atul C. Hemrom, made the arrangements for showcasing the Institute’s technologies in the Fair.
