ICAR-CIWA organized National Training Programme on “Capacity Building of Farming Women"

The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), Bhubaneswar organized a National Training Programme on 'Capacity Building of Farming Women’ during 28 th February to 4th March, 2022. The programme was sponsored by State Institute for Management in Agriculture (SIMA), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, ICAR-CIWA as Chief Guest and Dr P.K Gupta, Additional Director Agriculture, State Institute for Management of Agriculture, U.P was the Guest of Honor on 28th February, 2022. The programme was organized with the objective of strengthening the gender perspective in agricultural development, and for capacity building of 41 extension officials of SIMA, representatives from NGOs and progressive farm women from Uttar Pradesh. The training was conducted through lectures, video show, field visit and demonstration. Total 17 numbers of classes such as, role of ICAR-CIWA for empowering the farm women , various developmental schemes, organic farming, integrated farming system, entrepreneurship development, value addition of rice, fruit processing, women friendly tools and equipment, seed production, goatery, importance of nutrition, dairy farming, backyard poultry, mushroom cultivation, fishery, Nutritional garden, technologies for doubling the farm income, application of drone in agriculture, precision farming etc. were covered during the training period.

The valedictory function held on 4th March, 2022, Dr.Anil Kumar, Director, was the Chief Guest and distributed Certificates to the participants. The feedback given by the participants was very encouraging, as they were 'very much' satisfied with the course contents and training arrangements. The programme was coordinated by Dr Jyoti Nayak, Er. Chaitrali Mhatre, Mrs. Geeta Saha and Er. Subrat Kumar Das.
