ICAR-CIWA organised training programme on “Landless Farming-Innovative Prospect for Resource less Women Farmers” for women farmers under project Assessment of role of Organised dairy sector on livelihood of women Funded by SCSP

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture conducted one day training programme of women dairy farmers of Scheduled Caste community of Guapur village of Balipatana, Khordha, Odisha on 27.12.23. The training programme is on “Landless Farming-Innovative Prospect for Resource less Women Farmers”. At the outset the women farmers of Guapur village welcomed the guests on dias. Dairy farmers of village highlighted that one of the major issue of dairy farming in their area is availability of fodder for cows during rainy season. Dr. Arpita Mohapatra, Scientist, ICAR-CIWA explained the importance of hydroponic fodder farming in overcoming fodder shortage and also described the packages and practices of hydroponic fodder farming. She explained the details of vertical farming for landless women farmers in getting nutrition and income. Sri Pradipta Kumar Datta, M.D. Radio Kisan, Balipatana, Khordha appreciated the persistent efforts of ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar to make women farmers of Guapur village financially and socially secured. Sri Bhikari Charan Behera, Senior Technical Officer, ICAR-CIWA explained the different agri-allied opportunities through vertical farming like mushroom farming, bee keeping, horticulture, floriculture and poultry farming. About 50 women farmers participated in the training programme. After the training programme seeds of seasonal vegetables and garden hoe were distributed among women farmers for strengthening their livelihood opportunities.
