Demonstration cum Training Programme on Gender Sensitive Integrated Vertical Nutri-farming System (IVNFS)

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organized a Demonstration cum Training Programme at Sagada village, Nimapada Block, Puri District of Odisha on 18th November, 2022 under the project “Design and Development of Gender Sensitive Integrated Vertical Nutri-farming System (IVNFS) for Household Nutrition and Income”. The purpose of the programme was to make the women farmers aware about the importance of IVNFS and the scientific practices needs to be followed for cultivation of vegetables, mushroom and rearing of poultry in the IVNFS model. Dr. Tania Seth, Scientist and PI of the project demonstrated the layout of vegetable cultivation in vertical troughs, row to row and plant to plant spacing for each type of vegetables that needs to be followed. Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Principal Scientist and Co-PI of the project discussed about the improved management practices of poultry for getting higher production and income. Mr. Manoranjan Prusty, Technical Officer explained the use of plant protection chemicals and demonstrated the preparation of fungicide and insecticide formulation. About 30 participants participated in the programme. At the end of the training programme seeds of seasonal vegetables, mushroom spawn, besan, polythene, plant protection chemicals, 20 chicks, 5 kg feed, one feeder and one waterer were distributed to each of the selected women beneficiaries. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Tania Seth, Scientist, Dr. A. K. Panda, Principal Scientist and Mr. Manoranjan Prusty, Technical Officer.
