Celebration of International Women's Day at ICAR-CIWA on 8th March, 2018

ICAR-CIWA celebrated International Women's Day on March 8, 2018 by organising a workshop on the “Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace” in collaboration with National Academy for Human Resource Development (NAHRD), New Delhi. Dr. Tanuja S., Nodal officer for the programme, welcomed all the delegates and participants. The inaugural function was graced by Prof. (Dr.) P. Yasodhara, former Special Officer of College of Home Science, OUAT, Bhubaneswar as the Chief Guest. She highlighted the significance of the day and contributions made by women to the society by playing various roles as mother, daughter, wife and daughter-in-law. The in-charge Director, Dr. Anil Kumar emphasized the importance of the Day and congratulated all women for their endless and significant endeavours. The resource person for the workshop, Shri Mahabir Singh Kasana, former Joint Director, Institute of Secretariat Training and Management, Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. During the workshop he delivered informative lectures citing a number of case studies on "Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace". He also sensitized the participants about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act, 2013, the importance of Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), steps for conducting inquiry, rules and provisions for the women employees at the workplace etc. Around 90 participants attended the workshop which included women scientists, women technical staff, administrative staff and women’s cell members from different ICAR Institutes, i.e. ICAR-CIWA, ICAR-IIWM, ICAR-CHES, ICAR-NRRI and OUAT, Bhubaneswar. There were a series of interactive sessions in the workshop and the participants also got an opportunity to clarify their queries on the topic during the event. The workshop concluded with formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sabita Mishra, Co-Nodal Officer of the programme.
