18th Research Advisory Committee meeting of ICAR-CIWA

The 18th Research Advisory Committee meeting of ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), Bhubaneswar was held during 27-28 July, 2017. The following Members of Research Advisory Committee attended the two-day meeting.

Besides the Committee Members, Dr. B.N. Sarangi, Emeritus Scientist, ICAR-CIWA, 14 Scientists of ICAR-CIWA and 3 Scientists from AICRP on Home Science participated in the meeting.

At the outset, Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria welcomed the Chairperson, Members of RAC and other participants in the meeting. In her welcome address, she presented a highlight on research achievements and future perspectives of the Institute. It was followed by the presentation of Action Taken Report (ATR) on the Recommendations of 17th RAC by Member-Secretary, and approved by the RAC. Dr. Vinita Sharma, Chairperson of RAC, in her opening remarks, emphasized the fact that, being a National Level Institute, ICAR-CIWA should take up projects with national perspective, in collaboration with other Institutions. In total, 15 future projects of ICAR-CIWA and 14 projects of AICRP on Home Science to be taken up during the medium term plan period of 2017-20 were presented. The RAC critically reviewed those proposals and offered valuable inputs for reshaping them for better outcomes.

The RAC Chairperson and Members also visited an adopted village of the Institute viz., Chamarpada in Cuttack district on 28 July, 2017, and had an interface with the farmwomen. The research and extension activities carried out under the Institute's research projects and through Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav initiative were also reviewed by the RAC. As part of the Interface, drudgery reducing farm tools were also distributed to the participants.
