Three types of mushrooms are suitable to be grown in Odisha climate like:
Paddy straw mushroom
Oyster or Dhingri mushroom
Milk mushroom
But most of the mushroom growers go for paddy straw and oyster (dhingri) while a low percentage of them cultivate milk mushroom. Presently very few entrepreneurs have started ‘Button’ mushroom in conditioned situations.

The average yield of paddy straw mushroom and dhingri mushroom is 800 gm and 1.5 kg respectively. In conducive climate it can raise up to 1.5 kg and 3 kg respectively.

To get maximum outcomes, we have to follow the suitable time period as follows:
Paddy straw mushroom – March to October
Oyster or Dhingiri mushroom – November to February
Milk mushroom – March to October

Either 100ml of Formalin or 8gms of Bavistin should be mixed with 100 liters of water and can be soaked with it for 12 to 16 hours to disinfect the straw.
